I would also like to use the controller under Linux (Ubuntu, specifically) and am looking for drivers for that as well (of course, MS doesnt produce them). I also know that I can sign into the Xbox Live app from the Metro screen, but that's probably just for using the app itself and not for playing games with a controller.Īlso, does anyone know of a decent alternative to the official Microsoft drivers? I know that, by default, the buttons cant be remapped, except by using some 3rd-party program like Xpadder. I assume the drivers for 7 will work fine on Windows 8 But do I need to install it in 7 compatibility mode? Or is the 360 driver already included by default on 8, thereby precluding the need for installation? Dont want to manually install anything if I dont have to. I went to the Microsoft downloads website and a few other sites of theirs, and all I see are drivers for XP, Vista, and 7. I'm looking for a Windows 8-specific controller driver, if such a driver exists.
